Gotta love an autobiography in which a man will confess to everything he's ever seen, even if it makes him sound a little crazy. Here's David Brower, in his delightful autobiography For Earth's Sake (l990):
When I was eight, walking home one day [in Berkeley], I happened to look up at the sky and saw a brilliant object streak across it, leaving what I would now call a vapor trail. The object itself glowed red and tapered to a point in front. I described it excitedly when I got into the house, but there were no other witnesses and my parents must have thought I imagined it. My first UFO mystifies me still.
Brower's not the only famous person who saw a UFO. FOr what it's worth, so did John Lennon.

come on, Kit….those were not UFOs, even Brower says it was just a vapor trail and he was just 8. why publish this nonsense without at least saying the truth: there is not such things as UFOs….i thought you were above this crap!

Well, Danny, jeez, I just quoted what David Brower said in his autobiography about what he believed he saw. Is everything he did for the planet invalidated because of what he wrote?
As for Lennon, well, again, maybe he was mistaken, and yes, his story is a little embarrassing, but “dumb celebrity?” I think it’s established that Lennon didn’t get along with machines very well, but dumb, as in stupid? I don’t think so…
I think part of being human is being able to admit uncertainty and yet still speak up.

Well, you are right, Kit, I mouthed off to soon, as usual. SMILE. Brower rocks, and i love his work, and Lennon too, my guitar hero and vocals. It IS important to admit to uncertainty, i agree, and i am guilty of not being more open to admitting to it, but that is because i feel i am so certain of certain things, even though i admit i might be wrong, but i am sure i am right. for example, i am sure there is no God or gods, i am sure Jesus was not any messiah, and I am sure there are no alien-controlled UFOs. Certain. But people who believe in these things surely have the right to speak up, yes. i just can’t figure them out, that’s all. same with scientology and thetans. I hate bullshit and i hate ignorance. but then again, i may very well be a stupid man. I admit that. and sure, if Lennon said he saw UFO that day, that does not make him a bullshit celebrity, i should not have said that…i should ahve said silly celebrity, but sure he has right to see whatever he calls them. i am sure he saw no such thing since UFO’s don’t exist,. there are merely UN-identifed objects in the sky…..but aline UFOs, life on other planets? NADA……I am sure! and it’s not fun being so sure, but i am.

but DBrower was only 8 years old….. that’s why i reacted.
i mean at 8, we don;t know nothing about concuousness. we see ghosts and things….there are no ghosts either. i am sure. but at 8 we see meany things, and Lenoon with his LSD cells saw many things too. not real though. i know. SMILE. boring me.
