In Texas, apparently, global warming is a myth.
Or, possibly, some folks down there might have a sense of humor. Hard to know for sure.
On the scientific side, here’s a first-rate picture of how warming is affecting the U.S. today, courtesy of the Arbor Day Foundation, which put it together after surveying 5,000 USDA-affiliated climate stations across the country.

Well now, even in the ivory towers of Fort Worth, you’re going to having inquiring minds. They don’t pick their teeth with a hay straw, but they may have grown up in a time when folks did.
They may remember really hot days of the 1950’s and older relatives reminiscing about that seven-year drought. And, it’s hard to compare successions of cool, air-conditioned days to the sweaty ones of yore and call it warming.
People were warned and warned about severe hurricanes on the Texas coast, but, hey, that was back in the 1960’s.
Texas folks wonder about those crazy Californians who experience earthquakes regularly and still build homes, hospitals and schools on fault lines.
Guess the truth is that it doesn’t happen if it hasn’t happened to you. And those of us who think it might be a possibility are considered cranks.
